Lancome La Base Pro makeup primer

Hey guys, right so i've been looking for a primer that would help keep my skin feeling nourished and most importantly keep my makeup looking the same all day. I wen't home recently and my mom had purchased the Lancome La Base Pro primer so i said i'd give it a go and see what its like, i was amazed with the results, it feels so soft and silky on your skin and the makeup goes on your face more evenly and stayed in place all day, its also very good for your eye area, i put it on as an eye primer and it didn't irritate my eyes or anything and i've very sensitive eyes, it picked up the pigments in my eye shadows and kept it from creasing throughout the day. The one thing i'd say about this primer is use it sparingly, (less is definitely more) and leave it dry into your skin before you put on your foundation, a lot of people have been saying it leaves there skin feeling oily, this is because your foundation is mixing in with the primer before its set. The product itself is oil free and has silicone in it, which tightens pores and uplifts your skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth.  I have dry skin so i liked this product because it gave my skin a fresh look without leaving it looking oily or dull. It also works very well for oily skin because its oil free and it significantly tightens your pores. Below is a picture of the amount i used, this is one pump full, its spreads really easily, so i don't think you'd need more than this amount.

Its very similar to the smashbox primer, except its cheaper which is definitely a plus :)

It comes in a glass bottle and is $42, £26, €29 which is a bit expensive for a primer but you literally only need the tiniest amount and it will last you a long time. I'm in love with this product and i definitely recommend it if you're looking for an effective primer. i give it a 9 out of 10! :)

false tan- favorite gradual and instant tan! :)

Hey guys, i've a ball coming up in the next two weeks so i've been busy finding a dress, getting my makeup organized and so on. i'm going to fill you in more on that closer to the date with reviews and pictures from the actual ball.

One of the main things i couldn't go without for an event is false tan. I am naturally very pale and while i don't think the pale look isn't nice,  i just prefer to have a bit of a color for a special occasions like a ball or wedding etc. I don't wan't the orange look that a lot of false tans seem to give you though. I prefer gradual tans that you can build up until you get a color you are happy with.

The one i've been using for the past few years and love is the St Tropez Everyday Gradual Tan Body Lotion in light-medium. I love how natural this looks, and because it combines both moisturizing agents and aloe vera along with a touch of bronze it leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth with a subtle glow. I recommend this tan if your looking for a natural, moisturizing and streak free tan.

I put this tan on with a tan mitt, although my friend applies it with a glove and finds that works best for her, so its really down to what you prefer and find easier.

St Tropez also produce a tan thats specifically for the face, as the skin on your face is a lot more sensitive, this is the perfect choice. I noticed a few years ago how difficult it is to get your makeup to match the tan on your neck, but since i've started using the St Tropez face lotion, it has rectified this problem and they now match up perfectly, its a gradual tan as well, so what i do is the night before an event i'll put it on my face and let it dry in, you don't need to reapply this more than once if your just looking for a light glow,  however I usually touch it up the next morning before i put my makeup on,  then by the time the event starts the tan has developed into a nice skin kissed color.

I've used numerous other gradual tans before such as Johnson's Holiday Skin and Doves Summer Glow Body Tanning Lotion but i wasn't happy with them, i know a girl in college who swears by the Johnson's tan, she wears it every single day and it looks flawless on her, not a single streak and you'd never think the tan was fake, so i guess it depends on your skin type. I have sensitive skin thats quite pale, so any streaks on me show up way more than on other people. Below is a picture of one arm with the st tropez tan on it and the other without any tan.

As for instant tans, they are great too if you are looking for something for one night, i usually put tan on my legs if i'm going out at night and the tan i think is the best is Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Tan in medium glow. This stuff is amazing, its long lasting and even if u spill a drink on it as long as u pat it dry it wont come off, yet it comes off easily with soap and water. Whats great about this tan is its like a foundation, it covers any blemishes you have and makes your legs look smooth and toned. I always have a bottle of it at home, i haven't needed it over the winter months because i've been wearing tights, but now as the weather is starting to improve i'm going to have to say goodbye to the comfort of tights and hello again to my trusty fake tan! Below is a picture of Sally Hansen medium glow tan on one leg and no tan on the other.

So what tan do you guys think is the best?
Let me know! :) xx

Dance movies!! :)

I LOVE that feeling after you watch a dance movie, when you are so inspired and just wanna get up and dance! I think dvds that have bonus features where you can learn a dance routine are really good. I've always had an interest in dance, from a young age, i just love the freedom and self expression you can achieve through movement!

I just watched step up 3 there, and i really liked it, i'd seen it in the cinema when it was in 3D and i thought that was really cool, sometimes 3D movies work, and others not so much, but i think they choreographed really interesting dance routines that worked well in 3D! My favorite of the step ups will always be the second one, I liked the story line and i love street dance so this movie was definitely more my style. :)

My two favorite dance movie's of all time are "Save the Last Dance"(2001), which stars Julia Styles as Sara and "Dirty Dancing" (1987) which star Jennifer Grey as Baby and Patrick Swayze as Johnny. This movie is an iconic classic, everyone has heard of it, and i believe it was one of the first movies to really stretch the boundaries of dance in a film and all the dance movies that have followed have taken inspiration from this movie. This movie along with Flashdance and Footloose paved the way for future silver screen combinations of love on the dance floor, in other words without these movies there wouldn't be save the last dance or any of the step up movies!

It's both the choreography, and soundtrack to Dirty Dancing along with the incredibly talented cast that makes this movie sensational, and i must say they are pretty convincing actors because in real life they hated each other, its pretty tough to not only pretend to like someone, but to convince millions of people that you are in love so I think they did a great job. This movie is one of my timeless favorites, it's also a musical, which i'm hoping i'll get the chance to see next year.

Save the last dance is an incredible movie that mixes different cultures and styles of dance effectively. As i mentioned before i love street dance, but i also think ballet is incredible, i was never really great at it as a kid though, i was much more into free movement. I think what makes this movie so strong is its story line, right from the beginning it evokes a lot of different emotions in the audience. It shows how dance has the power to change things, dance can overcome social and racial boundaries, and can break down prejudice. As they say in step up 3 "dance isn't just jumping around, it has a vocabulary, its a universal language that brings all kinds of people together" i think that is a perfect description of what dance is. Everyone is equipped with their own beat to follow, and thats your heartbeat, so whether your a great dancer or you consider yourself a bad dancer, the truth of the matter is we're all born dancers, and i think thats why dance movies and programs such as so you think you can dance, americas best dance crew, dancing with the stars and so on are so popular.

Other movies such as center stage, rent, chicago, how she move, dance with me, take the lead, fame, stomp the yard, hairspray, make it happen honey, you got served, and street dance are also great dance movies and if you haven't seen some of these i suggest you check them out! :)

So what are your guys favorite dance movies?
Do you think the remakes such as hairspray and fame did the originals justice?
Let me know xx

Songs I'm loving at the mo!

I've been really into upbeat songs at the mo, like dance songs, which is a huge change from 3 weeks ago when i was into songs like someone like you by adele and jar of heats by Christina Perri, i guess with the weather improving, my song preference is changing also.

The song i have on repeat on my ipod at the moment is:
Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull- on the floor
I think this is a great song to get you in the mood for going out or dancing, it has a good beat to it and the music video is pretty cool.... JLO is back!! ha
Another song to get you in the mood for going out is David Guetta feat snoop dog- sweat.

Funny song i can't stop listening to is:
Lonely Island- I just had sex
This song is hilarious, i love lonely island, they've had numerous hits such as i'm on a boat and jizz in my pants and the creep. The people who perform in the music videos are from SNL (saturday night live) so are comedians, all of their songs are meant for entertainment purposes, they aren't to be taken seriously, but yea celebrities are now asking to be part of their videos, their newest one includes akon, jessica alba and blake lively.  If you like funny videos then check them out on youtube, you'll be surprised by how catchy they are.

Other songs i'm loving at the moment are:
Chipmunk Feat Chris Brown- Champion
You me at 6- Rescue me
Nicole Scherzinger- Don't hold your breath
Jessie J- Price Tag

Song i'm NOT liking at the mo:
Rebecca Black- friday
When i first watched her music video i genuinely thought it was a skit, like the lonely island videos, so i was shocked when i realized that she actually wanted to be respected as an artist, and believed that her song was going to be a hit (it did become a hit but not in the way she had hoped it would) thats when i felt bad for the girl, like the amount of negative publicity she's getting must be tough, but as the saying goes any kind of publicity is good publicity, Already Simon Cowell is in talks with her, so even though the song is terrible, she must be doing something right, She's definitely put herself on the radar. I wonder what her next song will be called? possibly about a month or season, or maybe she'll stick to talking about days of the week and the tough decisions she faces every day like which seat she should sit in.

Anyway theres a lot of good music out at the mo, and if you're from outside ireland you'll prob have heard of all these songs long before me.

Let me know what your favorite song(s) are at the moment and what song you cant stand! :) xx

Oldie but a goodie- "Popular"

Hey guys, right so i'm not sure if you remember this show but it was definitely one of my favorites. I remember being so disappointed when it was cancelled. The show had a huge fan base, its just none of the shows on the WB network were getting great ratings at the time, i definitely think they should have gotten at least another season. Anyway the show was created by Ryan Murphy, you probably recognize his name, thats because he's also the creator of the hit show Glee. Popular aired back in 1999 and ran for 2 years.   The plot of the series is centered around the lives of two high school students who despise each other but are brought together by their parents abrupt and unexpected engagement.                                        In school they are in completely different circles,  Blonde, wealthy, and sophisticated beyond her years Brooke (Leslie Bib) is the most popular queen bee in the school, along with the vicious and also blonde Nicole (Tammy Lynn Michaels) and Mary Cherry (Leslie Grossman). Then theres Sam (Carly Pope), whose very intelligent and creative especially when it comes to journalism and although she's equally as stunning as her stepsister Brooke, she finds herself an outcast, along with hyper-activist Lily (Tamara Mello), geeky Harrison (Christopher Gorham), and the voluptuous Carmen (Sara Rue)
The series also includes high school jock (Bryce Johnson) and his best friend Sugar Daddy (Ron Lester). Josh fits into the popular clique in school because he is the schools quarterback and is dating Brooke, we realize that he isn't a one trick pony though, he is also interested in drama and music, but is too ashamed to admit it incase his peers wouldn't approve, he goes on and tries out for the school play, despite everything and ends up landing a part in the play. He later falls for activist Lily (Tamara Mello) and theres a lot of drama attached to that relationship along with a pregnancy scare and an unhappy marriage.

The main drama occurs when Brooke and Sam fall for the same guy, Harrison. This puts a huge strain on their relationship as step sisters, they both ask him to the junior prom, he eventually is forced to choose between them, but we never fins out who he chose.

The series  outlines the perennial divide between the popular kids and everyone else, Popular comments on the inanity of cliques, with Brooke and Sam despite their differences eventually growing close as sisters, but refusing to cross enemy lines at school for fear of judgement. It also provides insight into the state of contemporary teenage angst, with complicated family relationships in which kids play as large a part in the emotional dynamics as do their parents, and a chaotic social system where students desperately try to figure out their identity  and in doing so must fight the labels placed on them by their peers.

It is an emotional, humorous, and witty show that captivated the audience.
If you haven't seen it before i reccommend you check it out.

So what did you guys think of it? have any of you watched this show? if so let me know what you thought of it :) xx

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser

Hey guys, right so I’ve been using this makeup remover for almost a year now, and I’ve had no problems with it, my skin is very sensitive so a lot of makeup removers irritate my skin. I had been using makeup remover wipes, because they are quick and easy to use, that is until I found out how bad they are for your skin, they basically dry out your skin and take away your natural oils as well as the makeup, leaving your skin feeling dry, also studies show that they can cause pre mature wrinkles and they don’t even take off your makeup properly, so if you are using makeup remover wipes, I strongly recommend you switch to an alternative.
My friend also has sensitive skin and one night I was staying over in hers and I took my makeup off with her “La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser”, and I was so impressed with the outcome. It retails at €13.95 so it’s a bit expensive, but it lasts a long time, you don’t need to use a huge amount of it to take your makeup off, and it takes off all your makeup leaving your face feeling soft and refreshed, so its definitely worth it. Have any of you used this before? Or do you recommend a different makeup remover? Let me know :) xx
