Dance movies!! :)

I LOVE that feeling after you watch a dance movie, when you are so inspired and just wanna get up and dance! I think dvds that have bonus features where you can learn a dance routine are really good. I've always had an interest in dance, from a young age, i just love the freedom and self expression you can achieve through movement!

I just watched step up 3 there, and i really liked it, i'd seen it in the cinema when it was in 3D and i thought that was really cool, sometimes 3D movies work, and others not so much, but i think they choreographed really interesting dance routines that worked well in 3D! My favorite of the step ups will always be the second one, I liked the story line and i love street dance so this movie was definitely more my style. :)

My two favorite dance movie's of all time are "Save the Last Dance"(2001), which stars Julia Styles as Sara and "Dirty Dancing" (1987) which star Jennifer Grey as Baby and Patrick Swayze as Johnny. This movie is an iconic classic, everyone has heard of it, and i believe it was one of the first movies to really stretch the boundaries of dance in a film and all the dance movies that have followed have taken inspiration from this movie. This movie along with Flashdance and Footloose paved the way for future silver screen combinations of love on the dance floor, in other words without these movies there wouldn't be save the last dance or any of the step up movies!

It's both the choreography, and soundtrack to Dirty Dancing along with the incredibly talented cast that makes this movie sensational, and i must say they are pretty convincing actors because in real life they hated each other, its pretty tough to not only pretend to like someone, but to convince millions of people that you are in love so I think they did a great job. This movie is one of my timeless favorites, it's also a musical, which i'm hoping i'll get the chance to see next year.

Save the last dance is an incredible movie that mixes different cultures and styles of dance effectively. As i mentioned before i love street dance, but i also think ballet is incredible, i was never really great at it as a kid though, i was much more into free movement. I think what makes this movie so strong is its story line, right from the beginning it evokes a lot of different emotions in the audience. It shows how dance has the power to change things, dance can overcome social and racial boundaries, and can break down prejudice. As they say in step up 3 "dance isn't just jumping around, it has a vocabulary, its a universal language that brings all kinds of people together" i think that is a perfect description of what dance is. Everyone is equipped with their own beat to follow, and thats your heartbeat, so whether your a great dancer or you consider yourself a bad dancer, the truth of the matter is we're all born dancers, and i think thats why dance movies and programs such as so you think you can dance, americas best dance crew, dancing with the stars and so on are so popular.

Other movies such as center stage, rent, chicago, how she move, dance with me, take the lead, fame, stomp the yard, hairspray, make it happen honey, you got served, and street dance are also great dance movies and if you haven't seen some of these i suggest you check them out! :)

So what are your guys favorite dance movies?
Do you think the remakes such as hairspray and fame did the originals justice?
Let me know xx

Songs I'm loving at the mo!

I've been really into upbeat songs at the mo, like dance songs, which is a huge change from 3 weeks ago when i was into songs like someone like you by adele and jar of heats by Christina Perri, i guess with the weather improving, my song preference is changing also.

The song i have on repeat on my ipod at the moment is:
Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull- on the floor
I think this is a great song to get you in the mood for going out or dancing, it has a good beat to it and the music video is pretty cool.... JLO is back!! ha
Another song to get you in the mood for going out is David Guetta feat snoop dog- sweat.

Funny song i can't stop listening to is:
Lonely Island- I just had sex
This song is hilarious, i love lonely island, they've had numerous hits such as i'm on a boat and jizz in my pants and the creep. The people who perform in the music videos are from SNL (saturday night live) so are comedians, all of their songs are meant for entertainment purposes, they aren't to be taken seriously, but yea celebrities are now asking to be part of their videos, their newest one includes akon, jessica alba and blake lively.  If you like funny videos then check them out on youtube, you'll be surprised by how catchy they are.

Other songs i'm loving at the moment are:
Chipmunk Feat Chris Brown- Champion
You me at 6- Rescue me
Nicole Scherzinger- Don't hold your breath
Jessie J- Price Tag

Song i'm NOT liking at the mo:
Rebecca Black- friday
When i first watched her music video i genuinely thought it was a skit, like the lonely island videos, so i was shocked when i realized that she actually wanted to be respected as an artist, and believed that her song was going to be a hit (it did become a hit but not in the way she had hoped it would) thats when i felt bad for the girl, like the amount of negative publicity she's getting must be tough, but as the saying goes any kind of publicity is good publicity, Already Simon Cowell is in talks with her, so even though the song is terrible, she must be doing something right, She's definitely put herself on the radar. I wonder what her next song will be called? possibly about a month or season, or maybe she'll stick to talking about days of the week and the tough decisions she faces every day like which seat she should sit in.

Anyway theres a lot of good music out at the mo, and if you're from outside ireland you'll prob have heard of all these songs long before me.

Let me know what your favorite song(s) are at the moment and what song you cant stand! :) xx

Oldie but a goodie- "Popular"

Hey guys, right so i'm not sure if you remember this show but it was definitely one of my favorites. I remember being so disappointed when it was cancelled. The show had a huge fan base, its just none of the shows on the WB network were getting great ratings at the time, i definitely think they should have gotten at least another season. Anyway the show was created by Ryan Murphy, you probably recognize his name, thats because he's also the creator of the hit show Glee. Popular aired back in 1999 and ran for 2 years.   The plot of the series is centered around the lives of two high school students who despise each other but are brought together by their parents abrupt and unexpected engagement.                                        In school they are in completely different circles,  Blonde, wealthy, and sophisticated beyond her years Brooke (Leslie Bib) is the most popular queen bee in the school, along with the vicious and also blonde Nicole (Tammy Lynn Michaels) and Mary Cherry (Leslie Grossman). Then theres Sam (Carly Pope), whose very intelligent and creative especially when it comes to journalism and although she's equally as stunning as her stepsister Brooke, she finds herself an outcast, along with hyper-activist Lily (Tamara Mello), geeky Harrison (Christopher Gorham), and the voluptuous Carmen (Sara Rue)
The series also includes high school jock (Bryce Johnson) and his best friend Sugar Daddy (Ron Lester). Josh fits into the popular clique in school because he is the schools quarterback and is dating Brooke, we realize that he isn't a one trick pony though, he is also interested in drama and music, but is too ashamed to admit it incase his peers wouldn't approve, he goes on and tries out for the school play, despite everything and ends up landing a part in the play. He later falls for activist Lily (Tamara Mello) and theres a lot of drama attached to that relationship along with a pregnancy scare and an unhappy marriage.

The main drama occurs when Brooke and Sam fall for the same guy, Harrison. This puts a huge strain on their relationship as step sisters, they both ask him to the junior prom, he eventually is forced to choose between them, but we never fins out who he chose.

The series  outlines the perennial divide between the popular kids and everyone else, Popular comments on the inanity of cliques, with Brooke and Sam despite their differences eventually growing close as sisters, but refusing to cross enemy lines at school for fear of judgement. It also provides insight into the state of contemporary teenage angst, with complicated family relationships in which kids play as large a part in the emotional dynamics as do their parents, and a chaotic social system where students desperately try to figure out their identity  and in doing so must fight the labels placed on them by their peers.

It is an emotional, humorous, and witty show that captivated the audience.
If you haven't seen it before i reccommend you check it out.

So what did you guys think of it? have any of you watched this show? if so let me know what you thought of it :) xx

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser

Hey guys, right so I’ve been using this makeup remover for almost a year now, and I’ve had no problems with it, my skin is very sensitive so a lot of makeup removers irritate my skin. I had been using makeup remover wipes, because they are quick and easy to use, that is until I found out how bad they are for your skin, they basically dry out your skin and take away your natural oils as well as the makeup, leaving your skin feeling dry, also studies show that they can cause pre mature wrinkles and they don’t even take off your makeup properly, so if you are using makeup remover wipes, I strongly recommend you switch to an alternative.
My friend also has sensitive skin and one night I was staying over in hers and I took my makeup off with her “La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser”, and I was so impressed with the outcome. It retails at €13.95 so it’s a bit expensive, but it lasts a long time, you don’t need to use a huge amount of it to take your makeup off, and it takes off all your makeup leaving your face feeling soft and refreshed, so its definitely worth it. Have any of you used this before? Or do you recommend a different makeup remover? Let me know :) xx

FUNFAIR! :)

Hey guys, right so I can't remember the last time I went to a funfair, so when my friend mentioned there was one in town I jumped at the idea to go! The funfair is called EuroShow, I’m not sure if it just travels around Ireland, but the rides in it are similar to most funfair rides. I went with my friend Danni and her sister Victoria, that’s her and I in the picture above! :) That ride was called the Ultimate Buzz, we saved it until last because it was the scariest ride. From the pictures you can kinda judge what the ride is like, you basically spin around in a circle and go completely upside down, must say the view was pretty amazing from up there, but the dangling upside down from such a height… not so much haha but was still an incredible ride, if any of you have been on a ride similar to that before let me know what you thought of it! :)

The first ride we went on was the Wild Mouse (above) which is a fun rollercoaster to start us off, no loops or twists or anything but it was still a good ride, we then proceeded to try out the other rides such as the Waltzers, and other fun rides.

Another great ride we went on was called Freakout (above)That was my favorite ride, you sway from side to side at a fast pace, it’s really exhilarating, but not a ride you should go on if you’ve just had something to eat.
My least favorite ride was called G force. I thought I’d like it, basically you step inside this circular room, the walls of which rotate,  and as it speeds up the floor basically falls from under you, and gravity is what keeps you stuck to the wall, only problem was, the pressure was really sore, I think they had it set too fast or something, but yea I definitely didn’t like that ride.
Overall my trip to the funfair was AMAZING!! Even though it was cold, the sun was shining and oh how could I forget the best part of a funfair (minus the rides)… The CANDYFLOSS!! It was so good!

Have any of you some interesting stories of your trip to the funfair? And what are your guys favorite rides, are you more of a Ferris wheel fan or are you an adrenaline junkie like myself and go for the big rides? xx

disney movie remakes number 1- Sydney White

So i've noticed recently that a lot of old disney classics and fairly tales are being remade, the most recent disney movie being "Beastly" and the fairytale being "Red Riding hood"
Beastly is based on the academy award winning movie "Beauty and the Beast" It stars Vanessa hudgens and Alex Petyffer who i recently did a review on for his role in the movie "i am number 4"I haven't seen this movie yet, so i can't give an accurate or non bias review on it, but an observation i made from reading about it is that i'm not sure vanessa Hudgens was the best fit for the role, but i know i'll have to wait and see before i write her off.
Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite movies growing up, and i really hope Beastly will do it justice.
So the first movie i am going to review is "Sydney White" which as i'm sure u've guessed it, is a modern day adaptation of Snow White. I know it was released in 2007, but i only recently saw it and i must say i was impressed, i liked how they turned this disney classic into a modern day version thats very relatable and funny. The movie stars Amanda Bynes as "Sydney White" and although she plays pretty much the same role in all of her movies, i still find her enjoyable to watch, she managed to carve a respectable career starring in movies that, with any other female lead would feel just as stale as the hundreds of others before it, but Bynes' charm and humor manages to give these movies a new lease of life, just like in "She's the Man" which is a modern adaptation of shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" where she surprised critics everywhere by doing a really good job, better than anyone could have predicted. Sydneys character is a tomboy, who was raised by her dad and his fellow construction workers after her mom died when she was 9. She lived a very sheltered life and spent most of her days helping her dad out on the construction site, that is until she gets accepted to SAU, the college her mother wen't to and not only did she go to this college but she was part of the college's most elite sorority Kappa Phi  Nu, so in an attempt to feel connected to her mother she decides she's going to do whatever it takes to become a Kappa. Her dorm roommate when she gets to college is none other than Dinky (Crystal Hunt) who's also a Kappa legacy because her mom too was a Kappa.
Things aren't happily ever after for Sydney though because of the big bad witch on campus Rachel Witchburn (Sarah Paxton) who is out to get her, because first of all she doesn't think Sydney fits the Kappa stereotype and more importantly because her prince charming ex Tyler (Matt Long) showed an interest in her and Rachel would not stand for that so spends the movie plotting to destroy her, the first thing she did was had sydney kicked out of the sorority leaving her nowhere to go except the Vortex, which is an old run down house for people who didn't quite fit in, in any of the other fraternities and sororities. This is where she befriends the 7 dorks, each of them represented the different dwarfs very well, you could tell straight away who was who, we are first introduced to Lenny (Jack Carpenter) who represents sneezy, Sydney bumps into him during a pledging challenge.
She moves into the Vortex and decides that enough is enough, these great guys are being forced to live in a house thats falling apart just because they don't fit the required stereotype to live elsewhere, so she persuades the dorks to run for president, Terrance (Jeremy Howard) being the oldest and smartest steps up to the challenge and all is going well until tragedy strikes and sydney white has to save the day.
I thought there were some very good references in the movie like the hot list website on Rachels laptop was a modern version of the magic mirror, the poison apple was infact an apple laptop and it gets poisoned by a virus, the movie was cleverly written and it was funny and enjoyable to watch. This movie also has a positive message, being that you don't have to be blonde and cookie cutter perfect to be beautiful, and that the Rachel Whichburns of the world don't have a right to make you feel down about yourself.

Overall its' a good teen movie that you can watch again and again.
i give it an 8.5 out of 10 xx

random rant!

i don't know if any of you are from Ireland, but oh my god the weather is terrible here, woke up this morning and the sun was shining, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and by the time i finished college it was raining and it hasn't stopped since... jeesh i hate the rain... and we're supposed to be getting snow AGAIN? thats crazy.. it's March!! i'm ridiculously clumsy so adding a few inches of snow and ice to the mix is a disaster waiting to happen!! Soon i'll have to ski to college and they'll be putting in button lifts where the paths are so people can get up the steep hills.... just give it a few years... its totally plausible! haha anyway i hope the weather isn't as bad where you guys are from and hope everyone had a good day :) xx

Adele - Someone like you

wow..... i am obsessed with the song "someone like you" by the talented British artist Adele... i've had her song playing on repeat for the past few days, i love when i find a song that is just so addictive, i cant stop listening to it! :) her voice is so beautiful. i liked her other song "rolling in the deep", but then i stumbled across this song of hers and its incredible, i fell in love with it. I know its been out for a while and i should have heard it before now, but i somehow didn't? The song has so much depth and meaning to it, and her whole album "21" is like that aswell. Its my new favorite song, Adele is the first living artist to achieve the feat of two top hits in both the Official Singles Chart and the Official Album Chart simultaneously since the Beatles in 1964.... she is definitely an artist to watch out for. If you haven't heard of her i strongly recommend you check out some of her music, hopefully you'll love it as much as i do. So What are you're thoughts on her? :) xx

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

Estée lauder Double Wear Foundation – I’ve been having trouble finding a foundation that suits my skin type, my skin is dry, but is also prone to the occasional breakout, so I needed a foundation that had enough moisture in it to stay on my skin without drying it out but also needed it to not be too moisturising which would only accentuate my blemishes. I’d been using laura merciers foundation in beige ivory and that was good, but I noticed it wasn’t staying on my face throughout the day, it started to rub off my nose and forehead, even though I’d been using laura merciers primer and rimmels stay matte powder it just wasn’t staying on, that’s when a friend recommended the estée lauder double wear foundation, it stays on ALL day, so I didn’t have to waste makeup or time having to reapply it numerous times throughout the day. It isn’t too thick, so that it looks like you’re caked in makeup, instead it covers your blemishes but still manages to make you look fresh faced, which ultimately is what most girls want, makeup is supposed to accentuate your natural beauty rather then cover it up completely. The shade i'm using is ecru So if you’re looking for a good quality foundation that will last on your face, I recommend the estée lauder double wear foundation.  It retails at €30 euros, £25 pounds and $34 dollars.  I Recommend you put it on with a foundation brush if you want more coverage, or just use your fingers if you want a more subtle look. It also has spf 10 which will protect your skin which is very important. Overall I give it a 9 out of 10, I’ve been using it for the past few months and haven’t had any problems with it. Have any of you guys tried this foundation or know one that’s better? xx

I am Number 4 movie review

Hey guys, right so i'm sure you've all heard about the new alien movie whereby these special extraterrestrials from the planet Lorien are the only remainder of their kind and are being hunted by............ no? right thought as much, so  let me rephrase my sentence... you've all heard about the new movie that hottie mc hotster  Alex Pettyfer is in yea?? haha.... better?

Okay so i remember when stormbreakers came out, and i saw this cute blonde dude in it...and i thought to myself.. he's going to be hot when he's older... and BAM... few years later he was in Wild Child and i think thats when he stole the hearts of teens and adults everywhere, and theres no sign of him slowing down any time soon. He stars in the movie I am number 4 along side glee's Dianna Agron who he recently just spilt from, they were sharing a house and everything?... little crazy seein as they knew each other a whole of what... a week?? ... right maybe a few weeks.. but still.. its nuts, although if i was Dianna i'd have been more than happy to shack up with him... even it had just been a day... hmm.... right back to the review, so basically the movie is exactly what it says in the tin, he's one of 9 extraterrestrials that are living on earth and are being hunted down by the Mogadorians, which are basically a group of weird freaky looking guys who's goal in life is to destroy these 9 extraterrestrials one by one. and at the start of the movie you see number 3 being killed, so then John Smith (alex) who shockingly enough is number 4 and his guardian henri are constantly on the run, barely staying one step ahead of the Mogaadorians.
They flee to Ohio to a small town called Paradise, where John falls for the sweet Sarah (Dianna) who's a budding photographer and befriends the schools nerd Sam (Callan McAuliffe) which does nothing to help him stay inconspicuous, it instead has the opposite effect and attracts the attention of the schools alpha males, and the leader of the pack Mark James (Jake Abel) who just so happens to be Sarahs ex so he gets all kinds of jealous when Sarah and John start hanging out.
The movie didn't have much substance, Sarahs character lacks charisma and depth, and Alex Pettyfer emotes precious little emotion throughout the movie, though he was indeed easy on the eyes, i don't believe he did the character justice, although he didn't do a terrible job.
In the end the Mogadorians catch up with Number 4, and thats when the movie goes from a normal teen movie to a sci-fi movie... or an attempt at a sci-fi movie, it was more like a cheap video game.
Number 6 makes herself known towards the end of the movie, and i think she was a good character and should have been incorporated into the movie more, she's a fiesty bad ass who helps John in the battle against the Mogadorians, then these, what i can only describe as weird beasts came on screen, it was like watching jurassic park or something, i feel like the director tried to incorporate too many different aspects into the movie instead of focusing on the actual story line and the characters.

The movie itself was confusing, there were a lot of gaps in logic throughout the movie and there were also a lot of eye rolling moments, but overall John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) made the movie watchable, and the nerd Sam was entertaining to watch, he was a good fit for the role.
If you're looking for a good sci-fi action movie then i don't recommend this, although if you want to see a bit of a brainless movie with an unbelievably hot male character, then this is the movie for you, theres also a scene where he's shirtless... so watch out for that. :P

I give the movie a 6 out of 10 and had Alex Pettyfer not been in this movie, it would have gotton a 3.
xx

egypt....an experience that was pale in comparison

Hey guys,
Right so i wen't to egypt with my family when i was 14, i was really excited as it was a christmas present from my mom. We wen't over the christmas break so it wouldn't be too hot, because i burn even whilst in the shade, seriously before i was lying down on one of those sun beds under an umbrella so i was completely in the shade, i had my factor 50 plus on so was feeling safe enough so wen't for a nap... woke up an hour or so later and felt my legs were burning... turns out i burnt the backs of my legs, back and the back of my arms, so when i stood to the side i was two toned, half my body was white and the other half was lobster red... that was a great 1st day.. spent the rest of my holiday looking like a weirdo and walking like a penguin... i'm convinced there was a hole in my umbrella or someone switched my sun screen for oil... hmm... anyway long story short I BURN EASILY!
So anyway ..back to Egypt.. we were staying in this hotel which seemed really nice, but the first thing i noticed was that there were no female workers in the hotel... not at reception, or the restaurant and even the people who cleaned the room were males.. so i thought that was a bit odd..later learnt that the women stay at home while the men go out and provide for the family, also men can have more than 1 wife, lucky them.
On the first day people were looking at me a bit strange, i just ignored it.. then when my sister and i wen't to buy some ice cream, the guy gave it to me for free, i was just like wow... i'm never this lucky.. then later that day i wen't to play crazy golf and all of a sudden all the workers there were coming over to me with drinks and offering to help me with my swing! straaaange i know.. it was crazy golf not the grand open!! so then i started to think maybe they are mistaking me for some kind of a celebrity, but i didn't want to sound full of myself so i just thanked them and went to my room... only to be greeted by roses on my bed. At this stage i started to get a bit freaked out as i'm not one who likes all that attention, i just wanted to have a relaxing holiday with my family, see the pyramids and stuff. So the next day i decided i must just be paranoid and we all wen't to the market, thats when it really hit me... one man in a jewellers took out an engagement ring  and proposed to me, then a few seconds later another man asked for me to marry him! then men were full on fighting around me... i was only 14 so was completely taken aback... i asked them if they had lost their mind? thats when it got explained to me.. apparently people with fair skin and dark hair are seen as complete royalty over there... they thought i was some kind of a princess... which was really cool... but the egyptian men can be quite forward and aggressive speakers... so yea by the end of the holiday i got proposed to 6 times,  got offered the penthouse suite, had free ice cream every day and in the airport got offered anything i wanted for free in the duty free.. i didn't take anything though because i didn't think it was right... but yea you'd probably all think oh yea she must of had a great time, what is she complaining about, people would kill to have been in her shoes.... but no it was actually one of the worst holidays of my life, i couldn't leave the house without being followed, the cleaners would come in to my room while i was sleeping and stand over my bed singing to me, i basically had to spend the rest of my holiday locked up in my moms room.... when i was younger i wanted to be a princess.... then when i got older i wanted to be a celebrity... well i can tell you i certainly NEVER want to be either... but by all means if you're pale and have dark hair and are looking for a really cheap holiday, or to find a husband in a day... i recommend Egypt.
A lot of other funny/strange things happened on that holiday... but i'm sure you got the jist of it.. it's something i can now look back at and laugh about , but at the age of 14 i didn't seem to see the funny side... needless to say if i could have gone back in time i'd have hit the tanning booth first! :) xx
